Setting goals gives me focus. If I’ve said I will do it then often than not, I will do it. It’s the second week in February and I’m already making progress on my #2018makenine. 4 our of the 9 patterns I’ve tackled and I’m pleased with how everyone on them has turned out. I thought it would be a good time to do a round up of my adventure so far.
The first pattern I tackled was my Sew Over It Erin Skirt. I had this already cut out at the start of the year so I cheated a little with a head start. I haven’t had much wear out of it yet but I think it will be a summer hit.
My second pattern was the Sew Over It ‘Heather dress’. I do have a soft spot for Sew Over It patterns. I just love the style of each and every garment. The instructions are easy to follow and when you use one pattern designer regularly you can make adjustments to the fit quickly and easily. The pocket detail is my favourite feature of this dress. Beautiful and functional!!
I have been on the search for the perfect cami top pattern for a while. I have to admit this is the only time my confidence has failed with Sew Over It. I tried their silk cami pattern and it just didn’t fit!! It was right across the upper chest and no matter what adjustments I tried I couldn’t get it to work out. I had seen the True Bias ‘Ogden Cami’ online in so many beautiful versions so I had a go. I love this pattern!! I have already made 3 versions and I have plans to make so many more before the summer arrives.
My final pattern completed so far is the Measure Twice, Cut Once ‘Henrietta Swimsuit’. When I added it to my list I predicted that this might be left undone as the prospect of sewing swimwear scared me! One afternoon I took the plunge, bought the pattern, bought the elastic and pulled out the Lycra fabric I already had in my stash. I haven’t blogged about this make yet as I’m waiting to get some photos and winter time in the UK doesn’t seem to be the perfect setting! I’ll give my full review then but in the meantime I will just say that I have felt an immense sense of achievement creating this. It is up there as one of my proudest makes along with my sequin Betty.
What pattern I’m going to tackle next I’m not actually sure. I’ve been scanning Pinterest for inspiration on my remaining patterns. I love looking through everyone versions. My husband is also asking for something, maybe the Hudson Joggers and my girls want a bikini each to match my Henrietta.
