#miymatch18 has been the first photo challenge that I have fully completed. I’ve enjoyed waiting to see the themes for each day and then think of how I can fit with it. I was ill this week so I had to play a little catch-up.
When I first saw the theme I instantly thought of a boomerang moving photo. However when I read the prompt the theme was about activewear. The closest I’ve made to active wear is this Measure Teice, Cut Once ‘Henrietta’ Swimsuit. I loved the challenge of making my own swimwear and was surprised at how easy it actually was. I’ve written more about this make here
My style hero is the character Carrie Bradshaw. I loved her walk in closest and have always dreamed of raiding it. My friend once described my style as ‘quirky’ so I guess it suits my style hero.
Before sewing for myself my go to outfit was jeans and a t-shirt. My handmade wardrobe has changed my style in every way and now the first outfit I pull out is usually a dress. This is one of my early makes, a Sew Over It ‘Betty’ dress hacked with a gathered skirt. That makes it feel more suitable as a day dress rather than the full circle skirt.
This was my first photo I shared when I set up my sewing Instagram account. It’s an Alex shirt from Sew Over It. I’d started the make a few garments and I felt that my friends in my normal account might be getting fed up with my photos of my clothes! I really love the oversized fit of this shirt and it’s regularly worn to work. I have hoped to make a dress version in a lovely plain cotton but I haven’t got round to it yet.
My sequin Betty dress has been my proudest achievement and it’s certainly an outfit kept just for best! Sewing with sequin initially frightened me but I did some research and it went great! I’ve written more about sewing with sequins and other challenging fabrics here here.
The last photo of the challenge!! I shared my recent t-shirt make. A ‘Frankie’ t-shirt from Tilly and the Buttons new Stretch book. I love it!! It’s just so roomy and comfortable but still has a female shape.
What next??? I’m hoping to join in #memademay for the very first time. I’ve never felt confident that I could make the whole month but I’ve made many basics for my wardrobe since last year so I’m hoping I can do it.
